What does COP mean? C.O.P. stands for Conference Of Parties. These parties are the 197 countries that have signed the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC).⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀In 1994 the UNFCCC recognised there was a problem with climate change and bound member states to act in the interests of human safety even in the face of scientific uncertainty.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀The objective of the Convention is to stabilise greenhouse gas concentrations "at a level that would prevent dangerous anthropogenic (human induced) interference with the climate system."
